Discover the
natural world around you through the use of acrylic paint. Participants will
have the opportunity to learn techniques to create perspective and mood in
landscape or interpret nature’s colourful beauty of flora or create realistic
animals and birds. This class is designed for beginners and those who want to
explore the world of nature.
Beginner Oil Painting:
Photo-Realistic Portraiture

Time: 6:30 - 9:30 pm

Materials:
Included in registration fee. Participants must
provide their own photograph. Using a range of painting materials and methods, students will work from photograph to further their understanding of the anatomy of the face. Slide demonstrations support students' contextual understanding of both historical and contemporary approaches to portraiture. Techniques such as underpainting, glazing, scumbling and alla prima painting are utilized to explore the expressive potential of oil paints. This class is designed for beginners and those who want to explore the art of portraiture and expand their ability to see, perceive and translate experience. There are many more kits currently under development, including plans to complete an art history kit and an art techniques kit. School & Senior Tours
Each month the EAGM develops a newsletter in the form of a Teacher’s Guide which explains the current exhibits and the planned student art activity. As well, there are supplementary activities to build upon the ideas expressed by the art exhibitions and during the tours, with emphasis on cross-curriculum. Check out the EAGM's other resources, including education kits, tools and supplies, and our new NWMP, Art History and Art Technique Borrowing Library from the Resource Centre.
